Green Lantern: Sinestro Corps Special - A tale of three lanterns?

It started a little over two years ago, first there was Rebirth, then the new Green Lantern ongoing, then Recharge, then the new Corps ongoing, and oh yeah, the most slept on DC Universe affecting book of the last decade, Ion, but now it all comes to fruition as this book single handledly makes all Green Lantern titles a must read.
A fractured community is the Corps and the Guardians. There are those that still dispise Hal Jordan for his time with Parallax. There are those that see Kyle as the torch bearer, their savior. There are those among the Guardians that believe a dark prophecy is coming to bear. There are those that see said scripture as hyperbole for fear mongering. The whole of the community is on the brink of something. Enter Sinestro and his new Corps and the proverbial “stuff” hits the fan.
Johns brings us a tale of three Lanterns, who in their time have been called the greatest: Kyle Raynor, Hal Jordan, and Sinestro. The fact that they are all alive and with the exception of Kyle ready to bear the title again, only adds to the mounting chaos. Johns has never been a better writer then he is in this one extra sized book. He deftly shows where all the major charactors are in this book, how they each relate to what takes place and what will happen. And what happens is huge: three major villians reappear (and, no, I am not counting purple guy with the yellow ring), a major body count is racked up, and the implications for the entire multiverse are just as big. In the back-up feature, we receive the last of the Tales of the Sinestro Corps, as the event swings in full gear with both GL titles with their next issues. This time around, just how did Hal and Sinestro become mortal enemies?
Ethan Van Sciver brings the details to the pages that made his previous partnership with Johns, GL: Rebirth, such a compelling read. From the intricacies of the individual Lanterns and Sinestro Corps members to amazing work in a sequence with Reverse Flash, his work is incomparable. Gibbons saves his best work in the back up stories for this last one.
In an Universe that is filled with tie-ins at present, this is the tightest and best of them I’ve read. Even at a relatively steep price tag of $4.99, this is a solid buy. You can not go wrong if you are a Johns fan and if you are on the other stratum of attitude towards his work, this might be the book that turns your favor.
